SUGAR PRODUCTION CAPACITY PLANNING BASED ON THE MASTER PRODUCTION SCHEDULE AND ROUGH CUT CAPACITY PLANNING TO ANTICIPATE CHANGES IN DEMAND

The mismatch between production capacity and production requirements can cause overload in the sugar production process. This study aims to develop sugar production capacity planning using the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on the result of sugar demand forecasting and to evaluate production capacity using Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) with the Capacity Planning Using Overall Factors (CPOF) approach. In addition, sensitivity analysis was conducted to determine the effect of changes in sugar demand and production downtime on the company’s production capacity. The results of the MPS preparation showed that the highest production demand occurred in July, August, and October at 6,105 tons. The RCCP results indicated that the available capacity ranged from 714–738 hours, while the required capacity ranged from 508–525 hours, indicating that no production capacity overload occurred under normal conditions. The sensitivity analysis results showed that the production capacity was still able to accommodate increases in sugar demand of 30% and 40%, while a 50% increase caused production capacity overload. Meanwhile, increases in production downtime of 70%, 80%, and 90% could still be tolerated by the company’s production capacity.
