Abstract

Supplier selection in the retail sector is often driven by subjective assessments, which can jeopardize supply chain stability. This research aims to standardize the supplier selection system at a local modern retail company in West Sumatra using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Six primary criteria—quality, delivery, compliance, warranty, communication systems, and price—were evaluated against six alternative suppliers (S1-S6). The results indicate that Quality (0.417) and Delivery (0.219) carry the highest weights, while Price (0.062) is the lowest priority. S1 was identified as the top-performing supplier and subsequently established as the company’s operational standard benchmark. The primary contribution of this study is the development of a standardized supplier assessment instrument (scoring sheet) designed to minimize subjectivity and enhance accountability in the company’s procurement decision-making process
