Abstract

One aspect that cannot be ignored in the manufacturing production process is the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). OHS is an effort to suppress or reduce the risk of accidents and occupational diseases. The basic machining sector is one of the areas that has risks in the workshop of the Manufacturing Engineering Department in Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung. This study aims to determine the extent of the implementation of OHS using the HIRADC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Control) method in this sector. The study was conducted with a qualitative descriptive approach, and data collection was carried out through direct observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The sample of this study was 68 second-year students who were carrying out machining process practices. The results of this study indicate that in the bench work sector, there are 9 potential hazards, the lathe sector has 17, the milling sector has 13, and the drilling sector has 11. The results of the implementation of OHS in the basic machining sector have an average of 91.45%. Recommendations to maintain and improve the implementation of OHS include creating OHS SOPs, adding signs, and improving OHS administration.
